In support of the Magnolia Elementary School

National Philoptochos has asked each chapter to adopt and support a school in need. Saint Sophia Philoptochos has chosen the Magnolia Elementary School on Orchard Avenue in Los Angeles with a population of 1200 students. Please help us help the students and teachers prepare for back-to-school.

WHERE: Saint Sophia Cathedral Huffington Center

WHEN: Sunday, August 9, 2026 after the Divine Liturgy 

COST: $5 and your donation of school supplies

Magnolia's Pandas are in need of these supplies:

• Backpacks for girls and boys (MOST NEEDED)

• Notebooks (either spiral bound or hard bound with paper inside

• Plastic containers, with or without lids, to store books (any size)

• Art supplies:

  • Glue sticks

  • Colored tissue paper

  • Markers

  • Crayons

  • Construction paper

  • Colorful stickers

  • Pencils

  • Yarn

  • Scissors

  • Plastic sheet protectors

COST: $5 and your donation of school supplies. Pay online below, or we will accept cash, checks or credit cards at the event.

We will accept monetary donations in lieu of school supplies.
